The intuitively obvious catharsis effect, which suggests that you can reduce an emotion by acting it out, has proven to be a myth, at least in the case of aggression. On the contrary, it seems that aggressive behaviour leads to more aggressive feelings. So you don’t have to live out your emotions. Emotions are not like liquid in a cup that is reduced when you pour it out, but more like a plant that grows when exposed to light.
