Stock Markets are Pyramid Schemes: They are based on the belief that their profit will keep growing and that only happens if enough people believe and participate. It feels much safer with more participants. The more people that get more dependent on maintaining the illusion that we all need this non-productive economy. The pyramid scheme mechanisms are also evident in the fact that by default people who have been in the game longer are the winners and everyone else are more or less apparent losers.
